Pesticide Information - General

page top
  • Look up pesticide label information - On this DPR page you can look up specific pesticide products by product name, manufacturer, U.S. EPA registration number, or PC code (used by U.S. EPA to identify particular chemical ingredients). You can then click to view images of U.S. EPA product labels. The labels are sometimes difficult to read (depending on your web browser), and many labels are not yet available.
  • Compendium of Pesticide Common Names - Find active ingredients associated with pesticide common names. This electronic compendium is intended to provide details of the status of all pesticide common names, together with their systematic chemical names, molecular formulae and Chemical Abstracts Registry Numbers.
  • WSU Pesticide Information Center - Pesticide labels and other links to pesticide information.
  • An Introduction to Insecticides A summary of common insecticides, written by Professor Emeritus George Ware of University of Arizona. Somewhat technical.
  • U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Pesticide Pipeline - NPMT is a collection of three separate but similar pesticide databases that provides information on new and upcoming products and product uses being considered by EPA.
  • Read the Label First - An interactive how-to guide on reading a pesticide label, from the U.S. EPA.

Health & Environmental Impacts of Pesticides

  • DPR pesticide databases - Look up pesticide products by active ingredient, product name, and other criteria, then select “full report” for a brief summary of toxicity information. Only California-registered products.
  • EXTOXNET global search - Look up many (not all) pesticide active ingredients, and check toxicology information. ”Pesticide Information Profiles“ can be searched or browsed. Produced by a consortium of universities.
  • Cornell-Pesticide Active Ingredient Profiles - These pesticide profiles include the Extoxnet Pesticide Information Profiles as well as information taken from other sources, such as the U.S. EPA and the Federal Register. Pesticides are organized by type of pesticide and active ingredient.
  • Cornell MSDS search - Find Material Safety Data Sheets for many pesticide active ingredients.
  • Pesticides and Material Safety Data Sheets [pdf] - Purdue University.
  • How to Read a Material Safety Data Sheet [pdf] - University of Maryland Cooperative Extension leaflet.
