SB 643 (McGuire, Chapter 719, Statues of 2015) Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act
These bills enacted the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act for the licensure and regulation of medical marijuana and established within the Department of Consumer Affairs the Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulation. DPRís role in this regulatory scheme as outlined in this legislation was changed and clarified in SB 837 in 2016.

2016

SB 837 (Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, Chapter 32, Statues of 2016) Medical Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MCRSA)
This bill replaced the term marijuana with cannabis throughout and clarified DPR's role.

Proposition 64 (Chapter 1 added by initiative proposition 64, 2016) Adult Use Marijuana act, PDF
Establishes a comprehensive system to legalize, control and regulate the cultivation processing manufacture, distribution, testing, and sale of nonmedical marijuana for use by adults over the age of 21.

2017

SB 94 (Chapter 27, Statues of 2017) Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA)
This trailer bill for the Budget Act of 2017 conformed MCRSA and AUMA to establish a single regulatory system for commercial cannabis activities. DPR's role under MAUCRSA is to develop guidelines for the use of pesticides in the cultivation of cannabis, provide guidelines on pesticide residue for the Bureau of Cannabis Control, and require that the application of pesticides in connection with the cultivation of cannabis complies with Division 6 of the FAC.
