I am a senior pesticide use specialist in one of DPR's Regional Offices. I enjoy this position because I prefer a challenging workplace that offers variety and change. Working in a field office is far from routine, repetitious or boring. Just when you expect to spend your day in the office in front of the computer, the phone will ring, and suddenly you're off investigating a priority incident. I value being able to assume independent responsibility for complex investigations, inspections and special projects. I am impressed with the professionalism and dedication of my coworkers. Providing advice, assistance and training to county staffs offers the opportunity for me to develop diplomacy and tact. And evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of county pesticide enforcement programs develops my observation and negotiation skills. The diverse challenges and assignments make this job interesting, but the dedicated people I have met and work with make it rewarding.
