DPR ONLINE BULLETIN

This informal, online bulletin from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) appears periodically. Our goal is to keep interested parties up to date on practical information, regulatory developments, and other announcements.

NEW FACT SHEET: KEEP PESTS AND PESTICIDES OUT OF YOUR OFFICE
This document jointly developed by DPR and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) describes how and why pests get into buildings, how to prevent pest problems without using pesticides and what to do if you think you have been affected by pesticides in the workplace. The fact sheet is also posted on the CDPH website:

NEW HANDOUTS: UNDERSTANDING PESTICIDE REGISTRATION
Topics include emergency exemptions, special local need registrations, research authorizations, experimental use permits, pesticide products exempt from registration, California master labels, and DPR vs. US. EPA non-notification, notification and amendment comparison table.

ENFORCEMENT RESPONSE REGULATIONS MODIFIED
July 1 is the deadline for public comments on changes to appropriate enforcement responses to be taken by county agricultural commissioners each time a violation occurs. The proposed modifications make the intent more clear.

REMINDER: COMMENTS SOUGHT ON PROPOSED CONTINUING EDUCATION REGULATIONS
The proposed regulations include requirements that instructors or sponsoring organizations of continuing education courses submit the records to DPR electronically within 14 days of course completion by the licensee. A public hearing is scheduled on Monday, July 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the Sierra Hearing Room at Cal/EPA in Sacramento. The public comment period ends July 12.

PREC MEETING CANCELED
The July 15 meeting of the Pesticide Registration and Evaluation Committee (PREC) has been canceled.

PMAC AUG. 9 MEETING CANCELED
Our Pesticide Management Advisory Committee's next meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 10.

STRUCTURAL PEST CONTROL BOARD MEETING SCHEDULED
Our Structural Pest Control Board will meet July 20-21 in Van Nuys. Agenda items include the renewal period for applicators and recommendation to the board from the Test Hole Committee.

QUALIFYING COURSE GUIDELINES FOR PEST CONTROL ADVISERS
Individuals who want to take DPR's examination for Pest Control Adviser must meet requirements that include college-level course work.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SCHOOL IPM WORKSHOPS
Workshops scheduled in Modesto (July 27) and Millbrae (Aug. 9).
