DPR offers guide to California pesticide program
SACRAMENTO -- The California Department of Pesticide Regulation has published a new, comprehensive guide on the State's pesticide regulatory system.
Regulating Pesticides: The California Story" is a 125-page history and overview of pesticide regulation. "DPR conducts the most comprehensive, rigorous state pesticide regulatory program in the United States, and we receive national and international recognition for our work," said DPR Director Paul E. Helliker. "This new publication is part of our continuing commitment to make California's pesticide regulatory process more easily understood and accessible to the public."
The guide includes information on pesticide law, DPR organization, an explanation of regulatory and registration processes, a description of local and state enforcement activities, details on DPR grants, and initiatives to reduce pesticide risks in California. An extensive index helps readers find topics of interest.
The guide will be available for downloading free of charge from DPR's Web site http://www.cdpr.ca.gov/docs/pressrls/dprguide1.htm A limited number of paper copies are also available; send an $8 check and a request for DPR Publication No. 203 to Cashier, California Department of Pesticide Regulation, P.O.
