Welcome to the Department of Pesticide Regulation

Pest Management Grants Program

alt : Ladybug

The Department of Pesticide Regulation’s Pest Management Grants program was established in 1995. Due to California’s budget shortfall, funding for pest management grants will not be available beginning in fiscal year 2002-2003. In the past the program provided funding support for demonstration and applied research projects that addressed local or regional pest management challenges and offered promising reduced-risk alternatives to conventional pest management practices. Funding was for one year. For more information regarding the Pest Management Grants program, contact Bob Elliott at belliott@cdpr.ca.gov or call (916) 445-3914.

  • Applied Research Grants helped university researchers, private groups, and government entities develop new reduced-risk practices or refine existing practices. Applied Research grants are best suited for projects that are not ready for Demonstration Grants.
  • Demonstration Grants helped university researchers, private groups, non-profit organizations, government entities, and others address local or regional pest management challenges. Projects typically involve practical demonstration of reduced-risk practices on private or public property (e.g., farms, nurseries, schools, parklands). Demonstration grants are best suited for projects with sufficient applied research data to support full-scale demonstration activities.
