DPR Proposes Updates to Eyewash and Decontamination Regulations
The California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) is proposing changes to several sections of the pesticide worker safety regulations focused on reducing potential exposure to workers and enhancing eye safety. The proposed changes would strengthen workplace decontamination requirements, improve compliance with eyewash standards, and clarify requirements for eyewash equipment and decontamination supplies.
The proposal would require employers to provide decontamination supplies for employees who handle pesticides. It would also update requirements for eyewash stations, personal eyewash units, and decontamination sites.
These changes are intended to improve worker safety, create consistent equipment standards, remove repeated requirements, and make the regulations clear to follow.

DPR has opened a 45-day public comment period through November 2, 2026, to collect feedback on the proposed changes. Comments can be submitted online through DPR’s SmartComment public comment portal, by email to dpr26005@cdpr.ca.gov, or by U.S. mail. Mailed comments must be sent to:
