Revised Pesticide Safety Information Series
The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has revised the Pesticide Safety Information Series (PSIS) leaflets to enhance clarity and to reflect the following changes to the Pesticide Worker Safety regulations found in the California Code of Regulations (Title 3. Food and Agriculture):
PSIS A-1 was revised to reflect changes in pesticide handler training requirements in agricultural settings about how to identify restricted pesticides and to clarify the existing training requirement for handlers to understand information on the product labeling, including information applicable to safe pesticide use, such as precautionary statements about human health hazards and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
PSIS N-1 was revised to reflect changes to minimum age requirements for handlers working with restricted pesticides in non-agricultural settings and training requirements for handlers about how to identify restricted pesticides, as well as to clarify the existing training requirement for handlers to understand information on the product labeling, including information applicable to safe pesticide use, such as precautionary statements about human health hazards and required PPE.
PSIS A-6 revised to reflect changes in pesticide handler training requirements in agricultural settings about how to identify restricted pesticides.
PSIS N-6 was revised to reflect changes in handler training requirements in non-agricultural settings about how to identify restricted pesticides.
PSIS A-8 revised to reflect changes to training requirements and hazard communication requirements for employees handling restricted pesticides in agricultural settings.
PSIS N-8 revised to reflect changes to minimum age requirements, training requirements, and hazard communication requirements for employees handling restricted pesticides in non-agricultural settings.
Lastly, the Proposition 65 list of pesticides known by the State to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity was updated and is available on DPR’s Web page at the Pesticides on the Proposition 65 List.
The PSIS leaflets, containing the 2025 revision date, are considered final and current. Please discard all copies of the previous PSIS leaflets. The PSIS leaflets are available in English and Spanish, Punjabi, and Hmong at the Education Series page.
