Continuing Education
What is Continuing Education?
Continuing education (CE) is required by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) for active licenses and certifications.
Licensed and certified pesticide applicators must complete a minimum number of CE hours from DPR-approved CE Courses focused on pesticides or pest management within each valid two-year license or certificate period to renew.
License and certificate holders must keep records of attendance hours.

Find a DPR Approved Continuing Education (CE) Course
Courses for individuals who already possess licenses or certifications.
Individual license and certificate holders are responsible for attending a continuing education course and receiving credit for only the time spent participating in the course. Breaks and time spent not actively participating in a course do not receive credit (e.g. arriving late, leaving early, or spending an excessive amount of time absent from the room).
Sponsors have the discretion to reduce the amount of time credited based on your actual attendance during a course. Reduced credit will be reflected on the record of course completion provided to you and reported to DPR. Individuals should contact the sponsor of a course when there is a reduction in the time awarded for attending a CE course.
CE Course Sponsors
CE sponsors must submit a $45 fee, the appropriate CE approval request application, and all required application materials. DPR must approve all courses before they take place. Additional fees are not required for course dates and locations when the DPR-approved agenda is the same. Sponsors may request additional dates using the “Continuing Education Additional Course Date Request” form.
Application fees are non-refundable, unless there is an overpayment or duplicate payment and the refund is authorized by law. If there is a payment error issue, please contact CEmail@cdpr.ca.gov.
Submit changes to an approved course to CEmail@cdpr.ca.gov.
