DPR Proposes Amendments to Service Container Labeling Regulations, Specifying Display Requirements

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) is proposing a change to regulations to add visibility requirements to labels on service containers.

Current regulations require the name and address of who’s responsible for the container, the identity of the contained pesticide, and the signal word to be on the service container label. DPR’s proposed changes will require those labels to be prominent and legible so that employees, regulatory officials, emergency personnel, and the public can easily read them, reducing the chances of accidental exposure.

Submit a Public Comment

DPR has opened a public comment period through October 12, 2026, to collect feedback on the proposed changes. Comments can be submitted online through DPR’s SmartComment public comment portal, or via U.S. mail. Mailed comments must be postmarked no later than October 12, 2026, and sent to:
