UPDATES TO VOLUME 3, RESTRICTED MATERIALS AND PERMITTING, PESTICIDE USE ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM STANDARDS COMPENDIUM


This letter describes the availability of updates to Chapter 5, Permits and Exemptions; Appendix J, 1,3 Dichloropropene (Field Fumigant) Recommended Permit Conditions; Appendix N, Volatile Organic Compounds; and the Table of Contents, from Pesticide Use Enforcement Program Standards Compendium Volume 3, Restricted Materials and Permitting. Please have your staff begin using these updates as soon as possible. Updates are enclosed and will be available online at the link below; hard copies of the updates will not be distributed.

To print the revised portions of the manual, select from the enclosure or go to www.cdpr.ca.gov/docs/enforce/compend/vol_3/rstrct_mat.htm. It is recommended the sections be printed back-to-back, where applicable. For best results, print each chapter and appendix separately. Remove the old sections from the manual and insert the new sections:

  • Table of Contents, page iv
    • Appendix N, Section N.2 title changed to Field Fumigation Methods Allowed, by Geographic Area
  • Chapter 4, Private Applicator Certification
    • Page 4-2, language clean-up only
  • Chapter 5, Permits and Exemptions
    • Page 5-1 under Who does not need a permit, added Pesticide broker, due to the regulation change which became effective January 1, 2017
  • Appendix J, 1,3-Dichloropropene (Field Fumigant) Recommended Permit Conditions
    • Page J-1, under Combination with chloropicrin, updated the title, removing Interim,
    • Page J-1, under In this document, Section J.3, updated title to Table 1, 1,3-Dichloropropene (With or Without Chloropicrin) Field Fumigation Methods Allowed, by Geographic Area
    • Page J-6, replaced 1,3-D Field Fumigation Method (FFM) Codes for Pesticide Use Reporting with revised 1,3-Dichloropropene (With or Without Chloropicrin) Field Fumigation Methods Allowed, by Geographic Area
    • Page J-7, corrected the link that takes the reader to the web page Tarpaulins to Receive 60% Buffer Zone Reduction Credit
  • Appendix N, Volatile Organic Compounds
    • Page N-1, updated the title to Section N.2 to Field Fumigation Methods Allowed, by Geographic Area
    • Section N.2, former document Field Fumigation Methods (FFM), FFM Codes for Pesticide Use Reporting, and Emission Ratings has been replaced by the revised (December 2017) series, Field Fumigation Methods Allowed, by Geographic Area. (There are six separate field fumigation documents which include: Methyl bromide, Chloropicrin, 1,3 Dichloropropene, Metam sodium and Metam potassium, Dazomet, and Sodium tetrathiocarbonate.)
