Announcement of a New Regulatory Scientist Team – Team Pine

The Department of Pesticide Regulation’s (DPR) Pesticide Registration Branch (PRB) is pleased
to announce the formation of a new regulatory scientist team, Team Pine.
The formation of Team Pine is supported by the fiscal year 2024–25 State Budget, which
included 31.2 new positions to strengthen DPR’s pesticide registration and evaluation programs.
Formation of Team Pine is aligned with DPR’s ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and
transparency of the pesticide registration process. This addition builds upon the team-based
workload structure implemented in 2023, which assigned submissions based on active
ingredients (AIs) to one of four teams – Cedar, Maple, Oak, and Redwood. The addition of Team
Pine reflects DPR’s commitment to maintaining balanced workloads, supporting the increasing
volume of submissions, and ensuring timely and thorough scientific review.
