Ground Water Protection List Monitoring
Back to Ground Water Protection Program Menu
Companies seeking to register new agricultural use pesticide active ingredients must send DPR certain chemical and environmental fate data. DPR scientists evaluate this data to determine if the compounds are persistent and mobile in the soil. If they are persistent and mobile and their pesticide labels specify certain application methods, DPR adds these compounds to the Ground Water Protection List (California Code of Regulations, Title 3, Section 6800[b]). DPR monitors for these active ingredients to better understand their behavior in the environment and to determine if they threaten ground water resources.
