Environmental Justice Advisory Committee (EJAC)
The Department of Pesticide Regulation’s (DPR’s) Environmental Justice Advisory Committee (EJAC) will support the department’s inclusion and consideration of diverse perspectives to inform its decision-making processes and foster equitable outcomes for communities most impacted by pest management decisions. This advisory committee, established by AB 652, is tasked with advising DPR on policies and programs that address environmental justice concerns – particularly those of communities living in areas of high pesticide use.
Meet DPR’s EJAC Members!
On August 21, DPR appointed eleven members and three alternates to serve on DPR’s first-ever Environmental Justice Advisory Committee (EJAC), in alignment with Assembly Bill (AB) 652.
This historic milestone marks a major step forward in DPR’s commitment to equity and environmental justice, as outlined in the department’s 2024-2028 Strategic Plan. The newly appointed members reflect the geographic diversity within California, representing voices from the Central Coast, Central Valley, and both Southern and Northern California.
These dedicated individuals will play a vital role by providing prioritized recommendations to DPR on ways to integrate environmental justice considerations into department programs and decision making.
We’re excited to welcome this inaugural group of leaders and look forward to the impactful work ahead!

Committee Documents
Scope of Work: Outlines the EJAC’s objectives, goals, and the roles and responsibilities of both EJAC members and DPR.
Draft Charter: Details the EJAC’s advisory role, governance structure, term limits, member application process, and the procedure for submitting recommendations to DPR, as required by AB 652. The EJAC will adopt the charter once the committee is established.
Transparency Memo: Provides a legal overview of Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act, Public Records Act, and Conflict of Interest requirements for all DPR committees, including the EJAC.
Committee Development
In May 2025, DPR held five workshops to provide more information on the committee, answer questions and gather public feedback on the April 2025 draft committee documents. Feedback on the draft documents was used to finalize the Scope of Work and update the Draft Charter. A recording of the workshop presentation is available in English and Spanish.

Summary of Public Feedback: A generalized summary of requests, ideas, suggestions, and recommendations related to the EJAC that DPR received in the May 2025 workshops and through written feedback.
Application Questions: Provides all the questions requested from applicants interested in becoming EJAC members.
