Sustainable Pest Management (SPM) Advisory Committee
The Sustainable Pest Management (SPM) Advisory Committee advises DPR on goals, tactics, policies, and partnerships that support the implementation of SPM statewide. The newly established, limited-term committee will meet quarterly over three years and serve as an advisory body to discuss barriers and opportunities for SPM adoption across California and inform DPR’s work to foster pest management approaches that promote human health and safety, ecosystem resilience, agricultural sustainability, community wellbeing, and economic vitality.
Meet DPR’s SPM Advisory Committee Members!
On April 2, DPR appointed eighteen members to its new SPM Advisory Committee, fulfilling a key recommendation of the SPM Roadmap and a goal in DPR’s 2024-2028 Strategic Plan. This marks an important step forward in California’s commitment to making SPM the de facto approach to pest management statewide.
The newly appointed members reflect the geographic and professional diversity of California’s pest management community. Members provide representation from across public, private, and nonprofit sectors, with expertise spanning from agricultural, urban, and natural space Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to public health, environmental science, food supply chains, and community advocacy.
This group of experts will advise DPR on the barriers and opportunities for SPM adoption, help identify procurement and supply chain solutions, and bring cross-sector perspectives needed to advance SPM implementation across California.
We are excited to welcome these members and look forward to the work ahead!
