Back to 2000 Enforcement Branch Letters

March 17, 2000

ENF 2000-012

TO: County Agricultural Commissioners

SUBJECT: REVISION TO REFERENCE MANUAL FOR RESTRICTED MATERIAL PERMITS AND CERTIFICATION

During the fall and winter of 1997, the Pesticide Enforcement Branch's Regional Offices presented training to your staff on Restricted Material Permits and Certification. As part of the training, a "Workbook for Restricted Material Permits and Certification," and "Reference Manual for Restricted Material Permits and Certification," both dated September 4, 1997, were distributed to all participants.

It has recently been brought to our attention that there is an error in the work book, on page 6 of exercise 2. Item number 49 "apiaries" is listed as nonproduction agricultural use. This is an error, and in conflict with policy found in letter ENF 90-16, which states, "Pesticide applications to bees and bee equipment are considered production agriculture."

For your convenience, we have revised page 6 of the work book (copy attached). Please replace the existing page with the revision.

If you have any questions, please contact the Senior Pesticide Use Specialist serving your county.

Sincerely,

David Duncan, Acting Chief
Pesticide Enforcement Branch
