INVESTIGATION PROCEDURES, VOLUME 5 OF PESTICIDE USE ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM STANDARDS COMPENDIUM

The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has completed the Investigation Procedures (Volume 5) of the Pesticide Use Enforcement Program Standards Compendium. ENF Letter 2005-02, describes the Pesticide Use Enforcement Program Standards Compendium.

This Volume 5 provides the information, policies, and procedures needed to conduct and report the findings of an episode investigation. Its contents supersede any position or direction on this subject in previous county agricultural commissioner (CAC) letters or earlier manuals. A listing of the significant changes from previous manuals is enclosed. This Volume 5 constitutes a reference against which county programs will be evaluated. Please have your staff begin using the manual immediately.

We are sending as an Adobe PDF file, of this Volume 5 along with a compact disk of the document. Any changes to this Volume 5 in the form of new and updated procedures, policies, and interpretations will be issued in the form of updates to the Compendium. Suggestions for changes, additions, or deletions to the Compendium should be made to DPR.

DPR will conduct statewide training in early 2006 to address the newly implemented policies in this volume as well as to provide refresher training in conducting an investigation. When the dates are finalized, a CAC letter will be sent containing information about the training dates and locations.

Questions that require immediate response should be referred to your Enforcement Branch Liaison. Other questions should be brought to the training for discussion.
