DPR Updates Public Meeting Dates, Extends Public Comment Period on Draft 2024-28 Strategic Plan

SACRAMENTO – To increase opportunity for review and public feedback on the department’s 2024-28 Draft Strategic Plan, the Department of Pesticide Regulation is rescheduling the dates for all four public meetings and extending the public comment period through November 10, 2023. The new schedule for collecting feedback on the department’s draft plan will provide more time for public review and comment on the draft plan to inform the department’s priorities for the next five years.

RESCHEDULED Public Meeting Dates: October 19 and 30 and November 3 and 6, 2023
DPR is rescheduling four previously announced public meetings– two virtually and two in person – to October 19 and 30 and November 3 and 6.
The meeting will include a short presentation from DPR on the Strategic Plan (recording available on DPR’s website in English and Spanish) followed by the opportunity for attendees to provide feedback to the department on the draft plan. Attendees will have two minutes per person to provide public comment. All four public meetings will be facilitated and offer simultaneous interpretation in Spanish. No registration is required to attend.

DPR will accept written comments on the draft 2024 Strategic Plan via mail or email through November 10, 2023. Comments are accepted online through DPR’s public comment portal in English or Spanish. Written comments can be mailed to DPR at 1001 I Street, P.O. Box 4015, Sacramento, CA 95812-4015.
Opportunity for Tribal Consultation - Extended

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation protects human health and the environment by fostering sustainable pest management and carrying out a robust regulatory program.
DPR’s work includes conducting scientific evaluations of pesticides to assess and mitigate potential harm to human health or the environment prior to and following registration, registering all pesticides prior to sale or use in California, monitoring for pesticides in the air and water, and enforcing pesticide laws and regulations in coordination with 55 County Agricultural Commissioners and their combined 500 field inspectors across the state’s 58 counties.
